Tech Talk Philly…Let the Show Begin!
My first show, with co-host Chuck Stewart off in Jamaica, aired at 10am on June 17, 2006 on 900AM WURD in Philadelphia.
Let me tell you a little about the guests. I had 6 Guests, addressing 6 different aspects of technology.
In our first hour:
Jen Phillps from Images Everything spoke about optimitzing your graphics and digital images and how to get the best quality. She’ll be giving some tips on graphics software. Jen is currently doing artwork for McDonalds. (You Go Girl!)
Jackson Walker spoke about web audio and developing your own music. Interesting Guy. Jackson is also the Composer for the John Edwards Show on the Women’s Enterainment Channel. (Comcast customers don’t have the WE channel but those of you with Direct TV and Satellite are able to see the show and hear Jackson’s work.) Jackson also completed his Computer Science degree online with University of Phoenix. How cool is that?
My “Go To Guy” Rich Blakemore, who is a successful SEO Professional (Search Engine Optimazation) gave some inside information about how to increase your web site visibility in the search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN and Kanoodle - so people can find you when they do a search. His information alone was worth thousands of dollars! Rich even helped a caller, Bob from Kentucky, to find out why he was ranking #18 on Google. (Way to go Rich!)
In our second hour:
Attorney Vicki Coward-Rosen shared information about building and maintaining an Internet Businses, and also share some of the legal pitfalls to avoid. Lucky for us to have Vicki on the show. A caller from DC, Eric, called and asked about the Terms and Conditions on his web site. A great question deserves a great answer, and he got one!
My personal admin, Skye Smith, called in to share some technology tips and tricks for ebusiness and went over some points about securing your web site. Skye is a great guy and he loves his babies (his servers). He is truly the watcher of the house!
Shane Evans from Hypersite was going to speak on programming terminology and which technologies are for what but he was having issues with his cell phone. No love lost, he’s still one of the best programmers I know. Shane programs all-scale applications and has done complex programming for the PA, NJ, NY metro, and DelMarVa areas.
The Tech Challenge!
Kudos times 3 to John, the winner of the Tech Challenge! The question was:
Name 3 movies that relate to technology and briefly describe the technology relationship!
John’s answers were: Firewall, Tron (Super Kudos for that one!) and The Core.
Here are the popular answers:
War Games, Hackers, Inspector Gadget, The Net, The Matrix, Lawnmower Man, Office Space, Enemy of the State, I Robot, Revenge of the Nerds, RoboCop, Mission Impossible, Swordfish.
A special thank you to all of my guests, whose participation was invaluable, Jen Phillips, Jackson Walker, Rich Blakemore, Vicki Coward-Rosen, Shane Evans and Skye.
